Texfed is the national body representing Textile Manufacturers for the apparel, household and industrial sectors of the downstream industry. The Federation acts as secretariat to the following associations.
- South African Cotton Textile Manufacturers' Association (SACTMA)
Chairman: Mr D Duncan (Frame Textiles)
Vice-Chairman: Mr R Funnel (Da Gama Textiles)
SACTMA as an association is representative of a wide range of textile manufacture including the spinning and weaving of cotton and cotton/synthetic blends; the weaving of 100% synthetic fabrics from spun and filament yarns; fabric coating and proofing activities and the manufacture of thread, narrow fabrics and trims.
- South African Worsted Manufacturers’ Trade Association (SAWMTA)
Chairman: Mr A Meintjies (SA Fine Worsteds)
Vice-Chairman: Mr G von Klemperer (Hextex)
The Association is representative of worsted spinning and weaving in South Africa. The members have integrated spinning operations both for their own captive consumption and for external sales. The spinning and weaving activities include 100% wool, wool/synthetic blends and 100% spun synthetics and textured filament.
National Fabric Knitters' Trade Association (NFKTA)
Chairman: Mr M McGeever (Frame Knitting Mills)
Vice-Chairman: Mr S Gershman (Gregory Knitting Mills)
The Association represents the interests of its members who are involved in both weft and warp knitting in all fibre and yarn compositions and the dyeing, printing and finishing of these fabrics.
South African Technical Textile Manufacturers’ Association (SATTMA)
Chairman: Mr D Coetzee (Gelvenor Textiles)
The Association is representative of a wide range of technical textile manufacturers.

This group comprises corporate members namely Hosaf, manufacturers of polyester fibres and Sans Fibres, manufacturers of polyester and nylon filament yarns.
